Main Vein, Fish Brain
Main Vein, Fish Brain is a site-specific installation and performance within a former Icelandic herring fish factory in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland. Over the course of one week, found materials were collected and given new purpose in a kinetic sound sculpture. The piece creates a symphony using only artifacts harvested throughout the factory and adjoining properties including fish bones, steel, concrete, rope, a bicycle wheel, and a barrel. Based on the town's transition from a Danish merchant trading post of mid-19th century to the demise of the local fish-processing plant, the materials were reactivated for the duration of the week and then deposited back to their original location.
